Ctenophora

Ctenophora are long, medium-thin diatoms with a thick silicified center.  Centers help tell this genera apart, with a distinct circle shape and ghost striae. 

cf. C. pulchella

  • Cells are 47-91 µm in length, 4.3 - 7.6 µm in width.

  • Rows of striae are 14-16  per 10 µm.

  • Central area is distinct and may have ghost striae

  • Larger specimens may become sigmoid at the ends, poles curving away from each other.
