Prestauroneis

Prestauroneis is a genus of symmetrical biraphids with elongated, sometimes undulate cells.  Striae typically start radiate and become nearly parallel.  Striae are also more wide-set at the middle and become denser as they progress towards the cell's tips.

P. integra

  • Cells are 27-43 µm in length, 9.3-12.6 µm in width.

  • Rows of striae per 10 µm are 10-15 near the center, and 15-21 near the tips.

  • Striae are radiate and spaced farther apart near the center.

  • The valve outline undulates near the tips of the cell.
