Tryblionella

Tryblionella is a genera closely related to Nitzschia. Like Nitzschia, it has a raphe system along the valve margin which alternates sides on each valve face.  Tryblionella tends to have more prominent striae, and has concave indents at the center of its valve margins.

cf. T. hungarica

  • Cells are 35-100 µm in length, 5-9 µm in width.

  • Striae are 16-19 per 10 µm.

  • True T. hungarica have long, linear valves and are slightly concave at the center.  This specimen displays minimal to no concavity.

  • Raphe is eccentrically positioned, with 8-11 fibulae per 10 µm.
